The Story
The powerful Lion, the king of the jungle, once became seriously ill in a thick forest. Weak and immobile, he lay in his dark cave. He invited every animal in the forest to come see him as a sign of concern.
One by one, different animals came to the Lion’s cave. They went inside to pay their respects to the king, but strangely, none of them ever came out again. The forest soon grew suspicious, and whispers spread among the creatures that something was wrong inside the cave. A cunning Fox eventually came to see the Lion. The Fox, prudent and wary, paused at the cave's entrance before entering. She took a close look around and saw something strange: No animal footprints were emerging from the cave, but all of the animal footprints were going in.The sick Lion was deceiving the animals and devouring anyone who ventured into his cave, and the Fox realized this fact instantly. The Lion called out to the Fox while feigning weakness: "Why don't you come inside, my dear friend? I need your company because I'm really sick.
But the Fox stayed outside and replied wisely:
I would have gone in, Your Majesty, but I see that a lot of animals have gone in and none have come out. I'd rather be safe than put my life in danger.Hearing this, the Lion was embarrassed, and his cruel plan was exposed..
